We know that Satan did not just happen. He is a deliberate creation of God. How boring and fruitless our life would be without him to spice things up. His presence keeps the mind active and thinking at all times. He is always ready to present interesting alternative action.
He became the other side of God during Creation, a known side effect from the creation of time. When all that was created was good, the other side was then called “bad” or not good. The flip side of the physical laws was put into motion; that is, any movement has an equal opposite movement.
But Satan is a blessing. His evil presence acts as a challenge to man’s thoughts so man can purify his reason. How would we learn, without him to nag us? How would we learn what God wants of us without him to overcome? We must overcome evil to understand good. How would we know joy without knowing what sorrow was? It is the struggle for good that makes life rewarding. Without this struggle, life would be bland and boring. We would have no purpose in life and therefore we would need no “Word” to guide us.
We need Satan to keep us aware of the right path; his barbs inform us of our status when we stray. The powers are not equal in all ways. God is in charge as He is an eternal spirit and ruler through Eternity while the world will pass away. Good and evil are both parts of Time. Evil is not bad within itself, it is just part of time. It causes decay in nature and civilization, as well as in men. It is a necessary step in the process of re-growth. Decay fertilizes the soil and results in new healthy growth although the decay may be catastrophic. As we suffered through the destruction of the twin towers of New York, we saw the unity and love blossom in our land. We saw the people of Afghanistan as good and evil, not all bad. Our love went out to them. We grew as a nation.
We do not need a return to the old ideas, but a regrouping of beliefs, a new unfolding of available knowledge. A new “Christ” or “Word” enlarged to fit a new age.
